Study on the Phase Transition from Quartz to Coesite under High Temperature and High Pressure
نویسندگان
چکیده
Quartz is an important component of the Earth. In this study, experiments were conducted at temperatures between 600 to 700 °C, confining pressures 1.5 and 1.8 GPa, differential stress conditions. It was found that coesite production closely related stress, reaction time, temperature, with formation being a multifactorial coupling process.

The influence of OH in coesite on the kinetics of the coesite-quartz phase transition
Coesite is an important pressure indicator for metamorphic rocks of ultra-high pressure origin. However, it often does not survive exhumation, but reacts back to quartz. Although it was shown experimentally that hydrogen incorporation in coesite increases with increasing pressure, the few coesite relics, which are found in nature, are “dry”. Thus, does the incorporation of hydrogen promote the ...
متن کاملMolecular to atomic phase transition in hydrogen under high pressure.
The metallization of high-pressure hydrogen, together with the associated molecular to atomic transition, is one of the most important problems in the field of high-pressure physics. It is also currently a matter of intense debate due to the existence of conflicting experimental reports on the observation of metallic hydrogen on a diamond-anvil cell. Theoretical calculations have typically reli...
متن کاملPhase Transition in Mixed Transition Metal Oxides under High Pressure
Mixed crystals can be categorized as the crystal in which two or more different types of atoms are present and configured. These atoms interact each other in the influence of Coulomb force of attraction and the presence of short range repulsion force. Due to this interaction they tends to be arranged in equilibrium state and forms new material. A pure crystal can be doped by impurities with pro...
متن کاملHigh-pressure, High-temperature Study of the Reaction of 10 Å Phase to 3.65 Å Phase
Introduction The 10 Å phase and 3.65 Å phase are dense hydrous magnesium silicates (DHMSs). These are phases that have been synthesized at high pressures in the system MgO-SiO2-H2O and proposed as storage sites for H2O in the Earth’s mantle. The 10 Å phase has been synthesized in a number of previous studies [e.g., 1-3]. It is readily formed from the reaction of talc with H2O at pressures of mo...
